Workshops
Our workshops, limited to about 20 persons, are designed to allow interaction among the attendees and with the teacher, and time is allowed for questions as the class progresses. We regularly offer four different workshops held at several locations in middle Tennessee. All workshops are scheduled for 3 hours duration unless specifically noted. Occasionally special workshops are scheduled, which also are shown on the schedule.
Registration
View the schedule of available workshops by clicking the link at the bottom of this page or in the menu to the left. You can then select your choice of workshop from the page titled “Event List”. Most workshops are in various Nashville locations; if a workshop is to be outside the city of Nashville, the location will be noted in the title line. More specific information and registration are available from the short menu at the right of the description. Also note that a green dot must be shown under Status or the workshop is unavailable.
Workshop registration is available only online and requires a credit or debit card from Visa or Master Card. Note that the registration process is entirely on secure (https) pages. The cost for most workshops is $30 per person registered and any difference from that cost is shown on the “registration” page. The completed and paid registration is shown on a page that can be printed for your record. Separately an email confirming the registration will be sent to the email address you recorded. If you want to view the completed order on line Adobe Reader is required before you register. One of the printed receipts must be taken to the workshop as proof of registration.
Registration closes at 5PM on the day previous to the workshop. Walk-in attendance may be allowed if space is available but requires payment by cash or check (no credit/debit cards).
Refund Policy
Registration may not be cancelled nor refunded. In the event you can not attend at the time for which the registration was made and you inform our office via email workshopreservations@scorenashville.org within 72 hours of the missed reservation date (with your name, address, phone number and reason) we will permit you to transfer the registration to another workshop.

The following paragraphs describe the Workshops and we urge you to read the descriptions before registering. If you have any questions about the content of a Workshop or for any other information about the Workshops please call the SCORE Nashville office at 615 736-7621 between 9AM and Noon on regular workdays and speak with the counselor on duty, preferably before you register.
Starting a Business
This introductory workshop answers basic questions such as:
- Am I ready to start a business?
- Does my business idea make sense?
- How do I secure financing?
- What is a Business Plan and why do I need one?
- What are some issues I may not have considered?
How To Really Do a Business Plan
We believe, “If you can’t plan it, you can’t do it!” Business planning can be intimidating, but less so after you have attended this key workshop. It enhances the understanding and skills you will need in developing this vital tool.
Smart Marketing for Small Business
What is your market, what size is it and how will you present your product or service to it? These are some of the key questions addressed in this important workshop. Some of the best business ideas have been tried at the wrong place, the wrong price and in the wrong way. Discuss your business and marketing ideas with the instructor and the group.
Accounting Basics for Small Business Owners
Many small business owners struggle with the essential concepts and terms used in accounting. It is just not enough to buy a software package and expect it to bring enlightenment to this critical element of your business. This workshop will take some of the mystery out of double entry accounting, debits and credits and how financial statements display information that is essential to a successful and sustainable business.
